Stayed here for one night, and it was a decent experience. In the past, a lot of reviewers have complained about the service, but all of the employees were friendly to me. I had zero issues with the staff. The room was nice and clean for the most part, and was also surprisingly spacious for such a tall and skinny hotel tower (LOL). My bed was quite comfortable as well, and I was able to get a decent night's sleep without a problem. The elevators are locked and require a room key. When you enter the elevator, you have to touch your key to the scanner before pressing your floor (this is nice because it helps keep unwanted visitors out). Also, getting a panoramic view is not guaranteed. I was placed on the 16th floor and ended up with a room facing two of the office towers, so I was not able to get any decent pictures of the surrounding landscape from my room window. My only complaint was that the trash can in my room was not empty. Housekeeping could have done a better job checking the entire room before locking the room up and leaving it for the next guest. Also, the main floor of the Renaissance Center is a bit of a labyrinth, and finding your way around can be a headache; it's like navigating your way through one of those zones in the Sonic the Hedgehog games. Other than that, it was an enjoyable little stay.
We stayed at the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center during the Detroit Grand Prix weekend, and it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. The views alone are worth the stay. Watching the Detroit River, Windsor skyline, and all the activity surrounding the Grand Prix from our room was incredible. The location couldn’t have been better—we were within walking distance of everything downtown had to offer, making race weekend easy and enjoyable. The staff was welcoming and attentive, the room was clean and comfortable, and the Concierge Level upgrade made our stay even more special. Every interaction we had was positive, and the hotel did a great job handling the excitement and crowds that come with a major event weekend.
Dramatic and eerily empty brutalist lobby by John Portman: enjoy it before it gets demolished next year! Location is great, right on the river walk, take a MoGo bike to get around. Views are great too, but glass was pretty dirty. Getting to the people mover can be confusing, ask the staff. Elevators are usually just fine, but when there’s a large event, we waited 20+ minutes, which was nuts.
I have been to this hotel a couple times before but i really want to shout out the staff especially Ann from the front desk, as well as Hassima one of the managers they both were very helpful to me when i was having trouble checking in to my room I would also like to shout out Patrina who works the restaurant at the hotel she always makes our stay Great! I would like to shout out the valet staff as well T who always assists us with our valet he is awesome as well as Saeed who helps with our bags and mason the staff here is what really makes this hotel shine!
This Marriott is absolutely beautiful upon arrival, and the location and views are truly breathtaking. Unfortunately, once we got to our room, much of that excitement faded. Our room had visible stains and even a small amount of trash left on the floor that housekeeping had missed. The bathroom was especially disappointing. You would expect a beautiful hotel like this to have updated, well-maintained bathrooms, but unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. The tub/shower has definitely seen better days, and there were also a few areas in the bathroom that appeared to have been overlooked during cleaning. Not exactly the first impression you want when checking into a hotel. As far as service goes, the staff we interacted with were friendly, but service was a bit slow. We requested a few additional towels to be brought to our room, and it took longer than expected for them to arrive. One of the main reasons we chose this Marriott over another location we were considering was the M Club. Unfortunately, we found out after arriving that the M Club is closed on weekends. This was incredibly disappointing because it was a major factor in our decision to book this particular hotel. I really wish that information had been made more clear when booking. Overall, the location and views are breathtaking, and the exterior of the hotel is beautiful. However, the condition and cleanliness of our room, the outdated bathroom, slower service, and the unexpected M Club closure made the experience fall short of what we expected from a Marriott at this level.
We stayed at the Marriott during the Ford Fireworks and were extremely disappointed with our experience, especially considering the price we paid. Before we even made it to our room, we witnessed an employee named Qtaurus accepting cashapps from guests in exchange for additional wristbands, free drinks, and other perks. This immediately raised concerns about the professionalism and integrity of the event. When we entered our room, we found hair in the shower. We contacted the hotel and requested that the bathroom be recleaned, but despite our request, no one ever came to address the issue. The biggest disappointment was the room itself. We specifically paid a premium price—over $500—for a room with a fireworks view. Qtaurus and another young woman sold us on a particular room and assured us of the view. However, when the fireworks began, we discovered that a large portion of the view was obstructed by a neighboring building. Instead of enjoying the fireworks from the comfort of our room as advertised, we had to leave and watch from the patio to get a decent view. For the amount of money we spent, we expected a clean room, accurate information, and a memorable experience. Unfortunately, we received none of those things. Between the cleanliness issues, unfulfilled service request, questionable employee behavior, and misleading room description, our stay was far from what we were promised and not worth the premium price.
